Samina Mansuri is a multidisciplinary artist and art educator. Born in Karachi, Pakistan, she received her early education in graphic design from the Central Institute of Arts and Crafts (CIAC), Karachi and later her BFA (graphic design) from Pratt Institute, New York. After working as a designer for several years in Karachi and later New York, she changed her focus and joined the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture (NYSS) to study painting. She returned to Pakistan in 1990 and during the following decade she established her art practice in Pakistan and taught at the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture. She moved to Toronto in 2001 and later went on to receive her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University, USA.

Mansuri has exhibited her work internationally for over three decades in Pakistan, India, Canada, USA, Europe and the UK. Exhibitions include The XIII Venice Biennale, Florence, Italy (2021), Out of Rubble, (2012-2015) various venues USA, Leaning Towards Collapse, A Space gallery, Toronto, Canada (2011) Empire of Dreams: Phenomenology of the built environment, Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, Canada (2010) Double Consciousness, Mattress Factory, USA (2007), Post-Object, Doris McCarthy gallery, Scarborough, Canada (2007), Beyond Borders, National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, India (2005), Darr: 37 Conversations, Centre A gallery, Vancouver (2004), Pakistan: Another Vision, Brunei Gallery (UK 2000), Open Wounds, Eicher gallery, New Delhi, India (1997), Intelligent Rebellion, UK (touring various venues, 1994 -1995) and Tampered Surface, UK (touring various venues 1995-1996).

She is one of the founding members of VASL, which provides international residencies and workshops. She is the recipient of several grants including the Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. Her works are represented in public and private collections internationally and her works are featured and reviewed in exhibition catalogs, books, newspapers and journals. Residencies include, Gasworks, London, UK, Banff Center for the Arts, Alberta, Canada, The Santa Fe Art Institute, New Mexico, USA, the Vermont Studio Center, USA and the International Studio and Curatorial Residency, New York, USA. She is based in Toronto, Canada.
